Ogden Tigers back on top with 3A championship win over Manti Templars

SANDY — Ogden defeated Manti 5-1 to win the school's sixth championship in school history.

This year's championship, however, marked the first for head coach Alexis King, who in just her second year avenged last season's 2-1 title loss to Morgan.

"Intensity," King said in response to the lessons learned from last year. "I think focusing after a goal is scored, the next five minutes after, making sure we are going out hard. Every single minute counts and just keeping that intensity throughout a game is key."

The game marked the 14th straight victory for the Tigers, with a final overall record of 17-2.

"It was our chemistry on the field and our hunger. We wanted it," captain Elle Weston said on the biggest difference from last season. "We wanted it stronger than last year since we lost sadly. That motivated us even more. We just love each other so much."

The win marks the sixth championship for the Tigers and their first since 2023.

"This feels really good. This is my first as a head coach," King said. "I am really grateful and really proud of them."

Weston averaged 2.2 goals for the Tigers this season and came into the championship contest with 40 career goals.

When asked how the Tigers will celebrate the championship, the answer was simple.

"Chick-Fil-A and a sleepover," Weston said.
