SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 8 high school football games across the state.
KSL.com Sports' Game of the Week: Brighton at Woods Cross
Why did we choose this game?
After a rough start to the beginning part of the season (against four teams ranked inside the KSL.com Sports' Top 20+1), Brighton has seemingly turned the corner and has been unstoppable in region play, first upsetting Viewmont in convincing fashion and then edging out Olympus.
The Bengals have only given up, on average, 12.0 points per game in region play, but have a tall task against a Woods Cross team who is averaging 31.5 points in region play. The Wildcats have only one loss against an in-state opponent, but that was in Week 1.
Woods Cross is playing great football behind a dominant ground game that is averaging 295.3 yards per game. If Brighton can stop Woods Cross' run game, it could spell trouble for the No. 14 team in the state on their home field.
Other games we'll be watching this week:
- Thursday: Skyridge turns tables on Lone Peak for dramatic double-overtime win
- Hurricane rallies on senior night, beating Snow Canyon 38-24
- Davis, Farmington game postponed due to lightning delays, will resume Saturday
- Lehi shocks American Fork in a weather-shortened rivalry win
- Kamden Lopati shines in 63-0 West win over West Jordan
- Mountain Ridge rides defense, storm delays to hand Herriman first loss
