OGDEN — A 73-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk Wednesday evening, police said.

Close to 8 p.m., a man driving east on the 1100 block of 24th Street turned south onto Harrison Boulevard and hit the woman.

The driver made the turn at a slow speed, but the woman landed on the hood of his vehicle — a white 2021 Nissan Rogue — when she was hit, Ogden Police Lt. John Cox said. When the driver stopped, the pedestrian fell off the hood and hit her head on the concrete. She was then unconscious.

"She's been transported to a local hospital, where she's been sedated and intubated and is in critical condition," Cox said.

Cox said alcohol did not appear to be a factor, and the driver is cooperating with law enforcement. An investigation is ongoing, but the area is currently clear and open to traffic.
