ST. GEORGE — It's a Cougar road trip on this week's edition of the Rocking Royal podcast, as we headed to Southern Utah to catch up with BYU football's latest commitment.
Four-star tight end Brock Harris revealed his commitment Monday on 247Sports' College Football Show over a list of 30 contenders including Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oregon and Utah. Then, the rising senior caught up with KSL.com to detail his pledge ahead of his senior season at Pine View High.
Harris' faith as well as name, image and likeness funding played a role in the commitment of Harris, who is the third-highest rated recruit to commit to BYU in the 247Sports era with a composite rating of 0.9719 — and the highest since 2003.
But mostly, it was the "family feeling" that Harris got when he visited with the coaches, whether it was head coach Kalani Sitake, offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick or tight ends coach Kevin Gilbride, who will be his position coach when he returns from a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints upon graduating in December.
2 TE Nationally, 32nd overall, #1 in Utah! Very honored but now it's really time to go to work! Thanks to all my family, coaches and teammates for everything you do @pineviewfootba1 @NILSPORTSMGT @B12PFootball@BlairAngulo@BrandonHuffmanpic.twitter.com/unR4OgRoVr

"I'm super close with everybody on the staff," the 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end said. "They've always made me feel like a priority, that they need me and they want me — more than anyone else."
Harris and his father Todd spoke with KSL.com about the tight end's recruitment and eventual commitment to the Cougars, as well as his plans for his senior year of high school and his role in Roderick's offense at BYU.
