ST. GEORGE — A fresh film featuring a Tokyo businessman who travels to Montana to turn around a cattle ranching operation has been released by a Utah director, his first feature.
"Tokyo Cowboy" will be presented on March 28 at the Bumbleberry Theater in Springdale, and filmmakers will participate in a question-and-answer panel afterward.
The film's director, Marc Marriott, told St. George News that he and producer Brigham Taylor are fans of independent cinema. Marriott is an award-winning producer and director of television and film, and a member of the Producers Guild, having worked on the History Channel's "Ax Men" and the Discovery Channel's "Roush Racing: Driver X." Taylor's career features a portfolio while working for Walt Disney Pictures on films such as "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Jungle Book."
"Taylor wanted to work together on it because he had done all these big projects," Marriott said. "He's always been a big fan of independent film, and this was a really interesting prospect for him to make. A story that didn't have to be as formulaic and broad, but something that would still be really crowd-pleasing."
