LOGAN — Utah State doesn't have to stress about who their coach will be after one season.
The university and Jerrod Calhoun agreed on a new contract that will give the coach a raise over his remaining four years starting next season. Next season, Calhoun will earn a base salary of $1.55 million, per contract documents obtained by KSL.com. He'll receive annual raises of $25,000 through the 2028-29 season.
On Tuesday, Calhoun released a statement through Utah State basketball's official X account.
"From the moment we arrived, Utah State has welcomed our entire family with open arms," Calhoun's said. "Even though we've only been here a year, we know without a doubt the Logan is where we belong. We're looking forward to more Spectrum Magic for years to come. Aggie Nation, we are just getting started."
Calhoun's original salary for 2025-26 was slated to be $650,000.
The total salary pool for assistant coaches remained at $750,000 in the new deal, per the documents. What's new, however, is that athletic director Diane Sabau may increase that allocation by up to $100,000 every year. The original contract simply stated Sabau would review the salary pool after every season, but there was no figure attached to that review.
Calhoun led the Aggies to a 26-8 record in his first season as coach, and an NCAA Tournament berth. They lost to UCLA in the first round.
Calhoun is the fourth coach is the last five seasons for the Aggies. He replaced Danny Sprinkle, who left USU after just one season. Ryan Odom coached the Aggies for two seasons — 2021-22 and 2022-23. Craig Smith was the coach for three seasons before Odom.
