SEATTLE — Carly Dockendorf didn't mince words after her team's penultimate meet of the regular season.

Saturday afternoon's meet in Seattle was supposed to be better.

The Red Rocks came away with a win, scoring 197.225, to improve the team's NQS, but Dockendorf left her alma mater, Washington, feeling like it was a missed opportunity for her team.

"Yeah, I definitely was hoping for more today," Dockendorf said. "To be honest, I thought this was going to be a really great opportunity for us to get a little bit of a bigger road score. I feel like this team is ready for that. Their skills have been looking really refined in practice."

Ahead of Saturday, the Red Rocks had seemingly built up good momentum and scored a season-high 198.075 to close out conference play as Big 12 regular season champs ahead of its bye week. But with a week off, the Red Rocks lacked some refinement after a season-high score.

But Dockendorf didn't blame the bye week for her team's missed opportunities.

"I mean, the bye week definitely can disrupt your rhythm, but I also think physically and mentally, it can do a lot more for the postseason," she said. "So I don't think that the bye week would be an excuse for some of our lack of performance tonight.

"I really felt like with our team performance we seemed a little bit fragmented in terms of our proximity to one another. ... It felt like some people were really here to get the job done tonight and others were just kind of here. So I think that it didn't really spark a complete energetic performance by our team as a whole."

Despite the seemingly missed opportunity, the Red Rocks had several standout performances, including Makenna Smith on vault (9.950) and floor (9.925), Grace McCallum on beam (9.950) and Avery Neff returning to the all-around competition for the first time since her injury.

Neff's highest score came on beam, where she scored a 9.925.

"Yeah, I thought she did exceptional," Dockendorf said of Neff. "I mean, that bar routine was massive. I did a routine summary to find out where some of those deductions were that they found, because it was a gorgeous dismount.

"I thought her floor performance, same thing, just so important for her to be back out competing on floor again; I know she was excited after she was done. And her beam, she just keeps getting more confident, more confident. And so overall, I thought that was a perfect opportunity for her today to do the all around and then get herself primed for next weekend."
