SALT LAKE CITY — "The Phantom of the Opera" will haunt the Eccles Theater once again.
The smash hit Broadway musical is one of eight shows coming to Salt Lake City as part of Broadway at the Eccles' 2025-2026 season.
It will be joined by several direct-from-Broadway shows, including "Back to the Future," "Hell's Kitchen," "Suffs," "A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical," "Water for Elephants" and "Some Like it Hot." The season also includes a holiday spectacle from Cirque de Soleil, "Twas the Night Before."
"Hadestown," the 2019 Tony Award-winner for Best New Musical, will also return as an add-on to the upcoming Eccles Theater season, in addition to the murder-mystery comedy "Clue."
"This season brings plenty of variety, with several new productions fresh from Broadway," said Megan Gutierrez, who runs the Utah Theater Lovers group on Facebook. "While some shows may resonate more than others, there are sure to be fan favorites that audiences won't want to miss."
"The Phantom of the Opera" was Broadway's longest-running show when it closed a year ago after 35 years on the Great White Way. Utahns will now have the chance to see it live at the Eccles.
"Hell's Kitchen" is a musical written by multiple Grammy Award-winner Alicia Keys. The coming-of-age story is loosely based on Keys' experience and it's filled with the chart-topping hits of her career. Set to the rhythm of the '90s, "Hell's Kitchen" is a love story between a mother and daughter that's about finding oneself, purpose and an inspiring community.
After watching the cast of "Suffs" sing about the fight to give women the right to vote, viewers will want to sport a purple sash and join the fight. After all, Utah women were the first to vote in the modern nation.
Jackie Eaton of Herriman said "Suffs" inspired her to turn to her history books and learn more about the complex issues of the women's suffrage movement.
"'Suffs' surprised me in the best way," she said. "Watching 'Suffs' is a community-building experience; one that had me thinking about the generations that came before and those of us interacting now."

"I left wanting to see it again so that I could think more about what I connected with and who I was learning about," Eaton added. "I wanted to read about each character and I wanted my family to see it. I wanted everyone to see it."
Featuring incredible stage technology that brings a time-traveling DeLorean to life, "Back to the Future" turns the beloved cinematic classic into a Broadway musical. The score includes all the fan favorites from the hit 1985 movie, including "The Power of Love," "Johnny B. Goode," "Earth Angel" and "Back in Time."
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, "A Beautiful Noise" is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chart-busting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 120 million albums sold, a catalog of classics like "America," "Forever in Blue Jeans" and "Sweet Caroline" — an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis.
"Water for Elephants" is a stage retelling of the critically acclaimed bestselling novel that comes to life with fantastic acrobatics. In the story, after losing what matters most, a young man jumps a moving train, unsure of where the road will take him and finds a new home with the remarkable crew of a traveling circus and a life — and love — beyond his wildest dreams. Seen through the eyes of his older self, his adventure becomes a poignant reminder that if one chooses the ride, life can begin again at any age.
"Some Like it Hot" is a fast-paced comedy that follows two musicians in the Prohibition era who take up new identities and go on the run after witnessing a mob hit. Their cross-country journey brings them face to face with a dazzling singer with dreams of stardom, who captures one of their hearts, while the other catches the eye of a wealthy suitor set on finding true love. Still, in disguise, they must find a way to untangle their messes and stay alive from the gangsters hot on their tail.
