4A state cheer: Snow Canyon all-girls, Crimson Cliffs coed back on top

OREM — The road between through St. George from Santa Clara to Washington Fields may be littered with state cheer titles by now, but it added a couple more Friday night.

Snow Canyon swept all three categories to win its second 4A all-girls cheer championship in three years, and Crimson Cliffs won two of the three categories to pull away for its third consecutive coed title at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University.

"These seniors really came back hungry after losing last year," Snow Canyon coach Elsha Gubler said. "They know what it feels like to win, and they showed leadership throughout the season, were good role models, built this team up, and came back hungry. We showed it today out on the mat.

"It starts in the summer when we condition," she added. "(The seniors) knew what it feels like to win, and they spread that through the whole team."

The Warriors held off Ridgeline in sideline/timeout cheer and dance in addition to show to become the first 4A school with a pair of all-girls championships since the Utah High School Activities Association sanctioned the state competition three years ago (and winning the combined 3A/4A classification in 2023).

The Mustangs' title held a little more drama, winning sideline/timeout dance and show and finishing second to Desert Hills in sideline/timeout cheer en route to hoisting the No. 1 overall trophy in the coed division for the third time in as many seasons.

Ridgeline finished second in the all-girls division, followed by Stansbury, West Field and Timpanogos.

Desert Hills was runner-up in coed, with Payson, Mountain View and Green Canyon rounding out the top five.
