THE NEIGHBORHOOD – Over the years, many books have been written about machines that come to life and take revenge on humans. Maybe it's a car that takes on a life of its own. Or a bread mixer that slithers off the kitchen counter with ill intentions.

The bottom line is that we put a lot of trust in machines. Usually, this trust is well-placed. The machines do what we need them to do, and they don't talk back or take sick days.

Every so often, however, a machine does seem to go rogue. In those moments, we are usually so shocked that it takes time to process what is happening. These machines have served us faithfully for so long that it's simply confounding when they don't.

Which brings me to this video, where I think the guy handled his rogue ATV pretty well:

Turns out, the guy in this video did some faulty work on the ATV. So he was responsible for the chaos. But I still have to give him credit for not letting that wild machine get loose in his neighborhood.

"I changed out the carburetor on this ATV," explains the caption. "I inadvertently installed the throttle body backwards, which caused the throttle body to stay fully open, giving it fuel when I cranked it. I tried to stop it, but it ran into my truck and my neighbor's garbage cans."

So the truck got dented, and the garbage cans got scratched. Not bad. Things really could've gone south if that out-of-control ATV had rambled farther down the road and hit someone.
