Interstate 15 (I-15)
One of the busiest and most well-known highways across the state, I-15 stretches from the Arizona border to the northern edge of Utah, passing through Salt Lake and other major urban areas. When you combine high-speed travel with frequent lane changes and heavy traffic, it's no wonder why this road tops the list as the most dangerous in Utah.
The "Spaghetti Bowl" interchange, where I-15 meets I-80, is a high-hazard zone because of its complex design and heavy traffic. Data from the Utah Department of Transportation shows that congestion and speed-related crashes happen frequently in this area during rush hours.

Parley's Canyon
Parley's Canyon connects Salt Lake and Summit County, and though its views are breathtaking, it poses a significant risk to drivers — especially in the winter months. You've got to navigate steep inclines and sharp turns, which is all the more difficult when a snowstorm hits.
Winter also brings icy roads and poor visibility, making conditions even riskier. Should you find yourself driving Parley's Canyon, whether in good weather or bad, be mindful of your speed and keep a safe distance from other drivers. Rest assured that the ski slopes will still be there even if it takes you an extra 10 to 15 minutes to arrive, and plan ahead by giving yourself extra time.
Moki Dugway Scenic Backway
Adventure seekers will love peeping spectacular views of the Valley of the Gods from the Moki Dugway Scenic Backway, but this unpaved gravel road can be treacherous. Steep grades, tight switchbacks and no guardrails in sight make the trek more dangerous than many unsuspecting travelers realize.
Of course, inclement weather only makes things worse. The Utah Highway Patrol has recorded numerous accidents here, particularly due to the road's poor condition after storms. If you're planning on traveling this route, make sure your car is up to the task and can tackle rough terrain. And be extra careful on those narrow, winding sections!
Interstate 80 (I-80)
The east-west route of I-80 cuts through the heart of Utah and runs across the country, which translates to a fair share of traffic and fast-moving vehicles. Since you often find wide, open stretches with no other cars around, you can trick yourself into thinking that the dangers are minimal. But things can change in an instant.
Be wary of construction zones, sudden lane changes and traffic congestion, especially as you approach Salt Lake. As with all other routes on this list, stay alert and maintain a safe following distance.
Washington Boulevard
Located in the heart of Ogden, Washington Boulevard is one of the busiest thoroughfares around. Aside from large trucks, SUVs and cars, there's also plenty of foot traffic and cyclists, meaning there's a higher risk for auto-pedestrian accidents. At rush hour — and really all times of the day — it's critical to stay focused and watch for people in your path.
Interstate 70 (I-70)
As dangerous as it is beautiful, I-70 — the route that connects remote parts of the state to cities like Salina, Green River and various national parks — presents a range of hazards. You'll encounter long stretches with no service, sudden elevation changes and a higher risk of fatigue-related accidents.
While traveling this road, make sure your car is in good working order and up to the task. And since you'll have those long isolating stretches to contend with, it's a good idea to pack plenty of fuel and supplies for your journey, just in case.
Highway 6
Connecting Spanish Fork to Green River, Highway 6 is another one of Utah's deadliest roadways. Known for its sharp curves, steep elevation changes, occasional lack of guardrails and heavy truck traffic, accidents in this area are often fatal.
Approach this area carefully, especially around blind curves or when you're dealing with large trucks that dominate the road.
