THE CORRAL — It takes skill to ride a horse. I know this because I've tried multiple times and have never quite been able to make it work.

I've actually fallen off horses on two different occasions. Then there was one time when my horse just kept walking in reverse, which made me think I'd somehow broken it.

So, I have mountains of respect for people who know how to ride. If I see a young barrel racer zipping around the rodeo grounds or a grandpa riding a quarter horse around the pasture, I appreciate the skill that goes into it.

As for dogs that know how to ride a horse? That's next-level for me. Check out this video:

I don't have a lot of context for this video, and I have lots of questions. Like, how did this dog learn to ride? And how long was it riding this horse prior to the jump? And how on earth did it stay in place?

My first reaction after seeing this is to feel bad about myself. Because if a dog can ride a horse, why can't I? But then I remembered dogs are capable of doing all kinds of amazing things I cannot. Such as:

  • Run up to 35 mph.
  • Hear sounds as high as 65,000 hertz.
  • Smell things up to 12 miles away.

So, I guess it's not that big of a deal if we also add "ride a horse" to that list. Dogs are just amazing.
