SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Hockey Club registered its first ever shutout with a 6-0 blanking of the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night in Sin City.
In a game of firsts, not only did recent call-up Jaxson Stauber hold Vegas scoreless, Utah also saw its first-ever goal by Alex Kerfoot, and not one, but two goals by Nick Schmaltz, who had been goalless up to that point.
SLC Puck! host Austin Facer, who saw the game from a packed-house watch party in downtown Salt Lake City, believes the hockey community in Utah is feeling the NHL effect in a big way. He sees hockey only getting bigger in the state, especially as the team continues to win fans over on and off the ice.
