PITTSBURGH — The Utah Hockey Club stunned the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena, securing a commanding 6-1 victory.
Highlighted by offensive precision and a relentless defense, Utah's win marks one of the team's most impressive showings of the season. Dylan Guenther was a standout for Utah, contributing two power-play goals and an assist.
Jack McBain opened the scoring early in the first period, setting the tone with a goal assisted by Logan Cooley and Guenther. Mikhail Sergachev followed with another first-period goal, capitalizing on a setup from Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller.
Utah ended the first frame up 2-0 and never looked back.
The Penguins' lone bright spot came in the second period when Sidney Crosby scored a historic power-play goal — his 600th career tally — off an assist from Erik Karlsson.
Despite the milestone, Pittsburgh struggled to generate offensive momentum as Utah's defense held the Penguins to minimal opportunities.
Utah added three more goals in the final two periods, including a power-play strike from Nick Bjugstad and Guenther's second goal of the evening.
The team's cohesion and power-play efficiency were evident throughout the game, with Keller recording three assists to lead the playmaking efforts.

Utah's defensive discipline also played a key role, neutralizing Pittsburgh's stars while maintaining control of the puck.
Utah sealed the victory in the third period, with the final goal capping a dominant performance.
The win propels Utah further into the spotlight as a formidable contender this season, proving their mettle against a veteran-laden Penguins squad.
