PHOENIX — A man who accidentally drove his car into a swimming pool has a quick-acting police officer to thank for saving his life.

Video released by Arizona's Phoenix Police Department captured the dramatic rescue on Halloween night.

Bystanders called the police to report the car in the pool. The driver was trapped inside. Bodycam video shows an officer quickly shed some gear, jumped into the water and climbed on top of the car.

He is seen smashing the car's sunroof and pulling the driver to safety.

"Thanks to the swift and courageous response of the officer, the man's life was saved," a Facebook post by police said.

The man told police his car landed in the pool after he accidentally stepped on the gas too hard. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

In one commenter's opinion, "He owes the cops a hug."
