HEBER CITY — A head-on collision Tuesday morning shut down U.S. 40 just north of Daniels Pass, between Heber City and Strawberry Reservoir.

Five patients were taken to local hospitals, one of whom was in critical condition, according to Utah Highway Patrol Corp. Jared Heywood, after a red Jeep Liberty traveling east on U.S. 40 left its lane of travel, crossed the undivided median, and struck a red Honda CR-V head on.

It was snowing at the time of the crash, and the road at the top of Daniels Canyon was snow-covered, Heywood said. The road reopened about noon, UDOT said.
