PROVO — The Kevin Young era is off and running with BYU basketball, and that includes the recruiting trail.

As the Cougars open the 2024-25 season on the basketball court, Young and his staff of assistant coaches are also hitting the recruiting trail, both locally and nationally.

Here's a look at BYU's upcoming class, which ratings based on 247Sports Hoops' rankings.

Chamberlain Burgess, PF, Orem HS (Orem, Utah)

  • In short: The 6-foot-9 power forward who will finish out his high school career at Orem High selected the Cougars over offers from Illinois, Weber State and Utah Valley, among others. Burgess is the nephew of BYU assistant coach Chris Burgess whose parents Josh and Ashleigh both played basketball at BYU.

A top-30 prospect by 247Sports, Staton also had offers from Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State and LSU, among others, becoming the highest-rated high signee in BYU basketball history.
