ST. GEORGE — City officials and cycling enthusiasts met at the Crosby Family Confluence Park in St. George on Tuesday to celebrate the completion of the Virgin River South Trail and the new level of connectivity it provides for the area.

"The Virgin River South Trail is a fantastic addition to our community, giving us a total of 72 miles of paved trails in our city," Shane Moore, the city's parks and community services director, said in a statement ahead of Tuesday's event. "In addition to providing new recreational opportunities, it strengthens connections between our parks and neighborhoods."

The new portion of the Virgin River South Trail now connects from Webb Hill to the Walmart Supercenter in Bloomington and continues on to Bloomington Park. It also continues the work that began with the Virgin River North Trail, which was completed in 2020.

"The North Trail has become a popular route for residents and visitors alike, offering a picturesque path along the river with easy access to several parks," according to a city press release. "Together, the North and South trails form an extensive network that boosts the city's trail system, creating a seamless connection between parks, neighborhoods and key community spaces."
