ST. GEORGE — A traffic stop in Washington ended in the arrest of a man and woman found to be suspects in a pharmacy burglary.
On Thursday, an officer heading south on Interstate 15 stopped a white pickup truck near the Washington Parkway exit for a suspected lane violation, according to court documents.
While speaking to the driver, 28-year-old Isaac Joseph Newman, and the passenger, Sarah Noel Dauria, 27, the officer learned the pair were heading back to their home in Calimesa, a town located in Riverside County, California.
The officer reportedly detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while speaking to the driver, and then he noticed more than a dozen cardboard boxes stacked on the backseat of the truck, each labeled with "promethazine hydrochloride and codeine phosphate," both of which are controlled substances. Police say they also smelled the odor of burned marijuana.
