HEBER CITY — Road closures are in place, and campers are being asked to leave some wilderness areas in eastern Wasatch County due to a wildfire burning near Yellow Lake.

"The closed area boundaries are Mill Hollow on the west side, Soapstone Basin on the Northside of Highway 35, Wolf Creek campground on the east and Duschene Ridge on the south," reads a social media post from Utah Fire Info.

Wasatch County emergency responders received a call Saturday at about 3:30 p.m. that a wildfire was burning on the east side of the county, according to a Facebook post from the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office.

The fire was estimated to be about 30 acres in size when crews first responded. By Sunday morning, it was estimated to have grown to about 130 acres in size, the sheriff's office said. As of 6 p.m., approximately 1,500 acres has been burned.

With winds expected to be as high as 50-60 mph Sunday afternoon, aircraft with fire suppression capabilities are on scene and additional aircraft has been ordered.

State Route 35 at the Noblett's Trailhead and Wolf Creek pass are closed, except to emergency vehicles. Search and Rescue officials and sheriff's deputies have been informing individuals within the danger zone to evacuate. Utah Highway Patrol and Wasatch County deputies are assisting with road closures.
