ST. GEORGE — A missionary at the St. George Airport was ecstatic to see his family after two long years, but he also had a surprise celebrity encounter.

Half an hour before Micah Hyde's plane landed on July 10, more than 70 friends and family members were gathered at the airport anxiously awaiting his return from Seattle.

Meanwhile, singer Post Malone was right outside talking on the phone. He was headed back to Salt Lake City after visiting a luxury resort in southern Utah.

After his call, Malone approached the Hyde herd and asked why they were there. For 15 minutes the singer conversed with the family about Hyde's mission, and the family even got a video of Malone telling Hyde congratulations and welcome home.

Hyde told KSL.com that his family thought it was such a cool experience, they immediately showed him the video once he got off the plane and arrived. Hyde said he thought it was so crazy his family got that video.

Shortly after, while he was visiting with all the people who came to see him, Malone walked back into the airport. Hyde said he ran over to where the singer was and got to hug and talk with Malone and get a picture with him.

That was the end — until someone asked Hyde if he had an extra Book of Mormon he could give to the singer. Hyde quickly grabbed the final Book of Mormon he still had in his backpack to hand out and ran to catch Malone, who was going through security.

Hyde waved to Malone and asked him if he had been given a Book of Mormon yet. The singer said no, so Hyde asked if he could give him one.

Malone said yes, so Hyde gave him the last copy and said, "Best book in the world. It will change your life!"

Throughout all of the interactions, Hyde said he and his family were so impressed with how kind Post Malone was to everyone.

"He didn't have to talk to us or be so kind, but in every interaction he was so kind to us and showed genuine interest," Hyde said. "If Post Malone, this big superstar, can be nice to a Mormon missionary, I think we can all try a little better to be just kind to all our neighbors."

Hyde has always been a fan of Post Malone and said the first song he listened to after the mission was Malone's song "I Had Some Help" which featured Morgan Wallen. He is excited about Post Malone's upcoming country album "F-1 Trillion" which comes out next month.
