LAS VEGAS — The Utah State football team has gone through a fair bit of turmoil this summer, and hasn't inspired much confidence in those who predict how the Mountain West Conference standings will shake it.

The Aggies were picked to finish seventh in the conference, according to the preseason media poll released Wednesday. It's right around the middle of the pack of the 12-team conference.

Utah State finished with a 4-4 conference record last season, which was also good for seventh place.

Boise State was picked to win the conference, followed by UNLV, Fresno State, Air Force and Colorado State to round out the top-five picks. The Broncos were the consensus favorite, garnering 38 of the 46 total first-place votes. UNLV and Fresno State each received four first-place votes.

The Aggies did get some preseason accolades for two of their players. Senior wide receiver Jalen Royals and junior safety Ike Larsen were named to the preseason all-conference team.

Utah State will take part in the two-day Mountain West media days held in Las Vegas, starting Wednesday. Interim head coach Nate Dreiling, Larsen and quarterback Spencer Petras will represent the Aggies in Las Vegas.
