AMERICAN FORK — Daniel Simmons, who has a passion for running, just graduated from American Fork High.

That passion has helped Simmons to become one of Utah's greatest high school distance runners. He broke a dozen state records, as well as several national marks and signed to run for BYU — after he serves a church mission.

"He's a generational talent — for sure," said BYU track and field coach Ed Eyestone.

Simmons talks about his career and how he's so close to breaking the four-minute mile, and how his faith affects everything in his life in the video above.

Check out more Beyond The Game videos, such as how former BYU linebacker Brady Poppinga and his family is moving forward after the tragic death of their 17-year-old son, or how former Utes offensive lineman Garett Bolles is paying it forward to help troubled youth, among many more.
