OREM — A nail-biting game left Orem boys victorious with a 55-53 win over Dixie Thursday night.
After finishing the first quarter tied 13-13, it was clear the talent on both sides of the ball was evenly matched.
The Tigers started the first minute of the second quarter with a 7-0 run on Dixie with the help of a long 3-pointer from Tate Robinson, who finished the night with 17 points in the win — 15 of which came on five 3-pointers.
The Flyers answered back within almost the same amount of time, tying the game 22-22 after a layup from Damon Meyers, and the first half finished with Dixie controlling a 30-27 lead.
The end of the first half momentum carried into the second half with the Flyers gaining their own 7-point lead on the Tigers after a score on a fastbreak from Jordan Roberts.
With Dixie up 42-36 entering the fourth quarter, Orem had to make some big moves, which included a 3-pointer from Robinson to tie the game 46-46. A layup from Asher Young then gave the Tigers their first lead since the beginning of the second quarter.
Orem managed to close out the game in the final 30 seconds with a 55-53 win over Dixie.
The Tigers will travel to California to face West Ranch High next Monday, while Dixie travels to Provo to take on Timpview Friday night.
