SALT LAKE CITY — The "10-dollar Founding Father without a father" could be a good stocking stuffer this Christmas.

That's right, tickets to "Hamilton" at the Eccles Theater go on sale Wednesday, Dec. 13, to the general public. The Tony Award-winning musical will be in Salt Lake City from July 31-Sept. 1, 2024.

Ticket prices for the local shows range from $43.50 to $223.50, plus taxes and fees.

But beware of resellers, warned Broadway producer Jeffery Sellers.

"It's tempting to get tickets any way you can," Sellers said. "There are many sites and people who are selling overpriced, and in some cases, fraudulent tickets."

To avoid the risk of counterfeit tickets, Sellers recommends people purchase tickets through ArtTix.org or BroadwayAtTheEccles.com. Buyers will be limited to eight tickets per account for Hamilton's run.

"Hamilton" is a worldwide phenomenon, with three U.S. touring casts, an international tour, sit-down engagements in Toronto, Australia, Germany, London's West End and on New York City's Broadway; not to mention a recorded version of the New York City production still streaming on Disney+.

The show's previous two Salt Lake City engagements, in 2018 and 2020, pumped nearly $100 million into the local economy, said Victor Hamburger, vice president at Mountain for Broadway Across America.

"We can't be more excited for 'Hamilton' to return for five weeks to Utah this summer," he said. "We are delighted that we'll have the show here adding even more excitement to downtown Salt Lake City."

Lucky winners of a "Hamilton" ticket lottery will have a chance to buy one of 40 tickets to every performance for one Hamilton ($10). More details about the lottery contest will be announced closer to the engagement.
