PLEASANT GROVE — Corner Canyon boys outperformed Orem 55-47 during the Pleasant Grove Tournament Wednesday night.

The Chargers entered the fourth quarter with a strong 6-point lead over the Tigers, 40-34. But after three minutes of game time, the lead diminished for Corner Canyon as Orem cut it to 41-40.

Orem stayed on the Chargers' heels for the next few minutes to keep the score with a two-possession game. That is until Corner Canyon's Derelle Desire had a game-sealing dunk with only a minute left of game time.

Desire contributed 15 points for the Chargers alongside Bryton Valdes' 17 points.

The game started out with a relatively low scoring first quarter with Orem up 10-8; however, that lead didn't last for long as Corner Canyon found its footing in the second quarter and took a 21-16 lead by the end of the half.

The Chargers managed a 10-point lead over the Tigers during the third quarter after a layup from Isaac Neibaur. Orem cut into the lead before the end the quarter thanks to Trey Hiatt's nearly 20-point game.

Corner Canyon concluded the game on top for the team's first win for the season. The Chargers welcome Arbor View at home, and the Tigers will take on Olympus next week.
