HIGHLAND — Reining 6A state champs Lone Peak started the 2023-24 season off with a win.

The Kinights battled it out against reining 5A state champs Bountiful in 68-61 win Tuesday night.

Lone Peak asserted its dominance early with a 17-8 lead after the first quarter. The Knights then took that momentum and managed a 15-point lead over the Redhawks before the end of the first half. After the half, Bountiful attempted to close that gap and outscored Lone Peak in the third and fourth quarters.

The Redhawks were led by Milika Satuala's 20 points, followed closely by Taylor Harvey, who finished with 18 points.

Despite the Redhawks' efforts, the Knights stayed ahead and took their first win for the season with Shawnee Nordstrom's 24 points and Naia Tanuvasa's 23 points to lead the team.

Lone Peak will take on Layton next at home, and Bountiful will welcome Morgan at home.
