ST. GEORGE — Coming off Dixie's lone win of the season, Wyatt Truman and the Flyers entered Friday night's home matchup against California's Beaumont with a victory on the team's mind.

But the visiting Cougars entered the road matchup undefeated (3-0) and weren't going to let a 4-point halftime deficit stop the team from coming back. In the second half, Beaumont stormed back and scored 22 points in the third quarter to take a commanding lead over Dixie to eventually pull away for a 32-14 win.

Beaumont opened up the night with a 4-yard rushing touchdown for the first points of the game on the team's first drive. But Dixie didn't flinch and opted for a run-heavy start before Truman eventually connected on a 61-yard pass to Ran Sawyer to even up the score.

In the second quarter, the Flyers picked off a Beaumont pass (the second of the night) and two plays later Truman added a 74-yard toss to Sawyer for the duo's second score of the night with 1:33 left in the first half.

But it was all the Flyers could muster, and the home team was shutout in the second half as the Cougars turned red hot.

Beaumont quickly marched down the field and scored a touchdown (and completed a 2-point conversion attempt) to take a 4-point lead of their own. And then did it again and again to take control of the game.

Dixie had little left in the tank and couldn't muster another scoring opportunity, and even conceded a safety in the fourth quarter to put the game away for good.

The Flyers have not won a game outside of region play this season, but look to bounce back next week against region rivals Pine View.
