SALT LAKE CITY — An action-packed second quarter led to San Juan claiming its fifth win of the season in a 67-7 blowout win over Judge Memorial.
Tyrese Boyce put the home team Bulldogs on the board early in the first quarter with a 5-yard pass from senior quarterback Thomas Gutierrez, but it was the last time Judge Memorial saw the end zone. San Juan's stout defense held Judge Memorial scoreless for the remainder of the game.
It was all Broncos after that as the visiting team reeled off 67 straight points for the win.
San Juan's quarterback Parker Snyder, who came into the game with a 68% completion percentage, continued his dominance in the matchup with the Bulldogs, throwing two touchdowns for the Broncos in the first 12 minutes of game time.
The first was a 9-yard toss to wide receiver Javin Montella to even out the score at 7-7, and then Snyder found Montella again with three seconds left in the first quarter to give the Broncos the go-ahead touchdown.
The Broncos continued to steamroll the Bulldogs through the second quarter, finding the end zone four more times to take a 47-7 lead into the halftime break.
A majority of the Broncos' scoring came from Montella, Snyder and senior running back Zack Conway, who carried the ball into the end zone four times throughout the course of the game. Jaggar Nieves gave the Broncos their final touchdown of the night on a 40-yard run with just over seven minutes left in the game.
The Broncos begin region play at home next week against the Emery Spartans, while the Bulldogs kick off region play against the Providence Hall Patriots at home.
