MINERSVILLE, Beaver County — State and county officials recovered the body of a 29-year-old man from Nevada who drowned in the Minersville Reservoir Friday evening.

Around 6:46 p.m., local emergency services received a call that a man was entering the water near the spillway at the reservoir, according to a press release from the Beaver County Sheriff's Office. The caller reported that the man went into the water to cool down but couldn't stay afloat because of the high water level.

After 20 minutes of searching, local police, fire and search and rescue officials found the man's body 300 yards from where he originally entered the water.

The Beaver County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any more information about the man at this time until his family is properly notified.

"We want to remind the public to use caution and flotation devices when entering water. Our thoughts are with the family at this time," Sheriff Cody V. Black said in the release.
