SPANISH FORK — Enterprise softball had a bit of a chip on its shoulder on Saturday afternoon.

A year ago, Duchesne stunned a favored Wolves squad in consecutive outings to earn an upset state championship.

On Saturday in Spanish Fork, Enterprise completed its season-long quest for vengeance in a 7-3 victory to clinch the program's second 2A state championship in the past three years.

"We knew (Duchesne) would come in fighting, but it's just awesome that we still had that (drive) going from last year," Enterprise head coach Katye Jones said. "We knew that if we played great and did things on purpose, with purpose, it would be huge."

A five-run second inning proved to be the difference for the Wolves, who tagged Eagles starter Kelsey Grant for 11 total hits on the afternoon.

Shortstop Addi Nelson led the Enterprise offensive charge with three hits — including a home run — and four runs batted in, while catcher Hailey Drake drove in a pair of runs, and center fielder Hali Christensen smacked two hits, as well.

Blakelee Christiansen earned the win on the mound, where she surrendered only three runs over seven innings a day after walking off the same Duchesne squad in the semifinal to earn Saturday's championship appearance.

With the championship victory, Enterprise finished the season with a 26-6 record and the program's first state title since 2021.

"All the girls love this game a lot; most of them play multiple sports, but when it's softball season they just get on board with the things we teach them," Jones said. "We work our butts off, and we know we'll accomplish good things when we do."
