SPANISH FORK — Chloe Bytheway capped off a dominant tournament performance with a no-hitter in Granstville's 10-0 win over North Sanpete in the 3A championship game on Saturday.

"Chloe was incredible; she brought her A-game today," Grantsville head coach Tony Cloward said. "I've always said she's one of the best in the state when she's on, and today she was on."

Bytheway struck out 10 Hawks batters in five innings of work, giving the talented right-hander 12 shutout innings over the past two contests to pave the way forward for a title. Over the course of the entire tournament, Bytheway gave up just three total runs, all coming in a single inning during her first postseason outing against Carbon.

"She does so well under pressure," Granstville catcher Addison Butler said. "It's so awesome to watch her ball movement behind the plate and see this amazing defense behind her as well."

Bytheway's heroics weren't limited to just the mound, as she collected two runs batted in at the plate to lead the team. Seven Cowboys batters knocked hits on the afternoon, with five of them driving in runs in the mercy rule-aided affair just a day after Hawks starter Katelyn Johnson stifled them in a 3-0 squeaker.

"We made those adjustments (at the plate), but what made the difference is that we're veterans," Cloward said of the offensive resurgence. "If you give our girls the chance to see the same pitcher two days in a row, you know they'll get on her. We watched our experience and leadership take over."

With the victory, Grantsville finished the season 27-4 and the school's sixth state championship in program history.

"I feel great that we went out with a bang," Bytheway said. "We all played loose and left it all on the field. It's been fun."
