SALT LAKE CITY — "Hamilton" is coming back.
The smash hit musical is the first show announced as part of the upcoming 2023-24 Broadway at the Eccles season.
"Hamilton" is a worldwide phenomenon, with three U.S. touring casts, an international tour, sit-down engagements in Toronto, Australia, Germany, London's West End and on Broadway; not to mention a recorded version of the New York City production still streaming on Disney+.
The show's previous two Salt Lake City engagements, in 2018 and 2020, pumped nearly $75 million into the local economy, said Victor Hamburger, vice president of Mountain for Broadway Across America.
"'Hamilton' continues to wow audiences and we are so fortunate to have this incredible musical return to the Eccles Theater for five weeks next summer," he said. "Utahns have embraced this show like no other, and we can't wait for 'Hamilton' to return as Broadway continues to be an important economic engine for downtown Salt Lake City."
"Hamilton" first premiered in Salt Lake City in 2018, with a sold-out run. It returned in December 2021-January 2022, with performances rescheduled to February 2021 after an outbreak of COVID-19 among cast members that canceled performances.
Upcoming performances are scheduled for July 31-Sept. 1, 2024. Broadway at the Eccles officials said the single ticket sale will be announced at a later date.
In addition to "Hamilton," the 2023-24 Broadway at the Eccles season will include several premiere shows. The remaining shows of the season will be announced March 15.
Eccles season ticket renewals begin in March. Broadway at the Eccles officials said new season ticket holders will be welcomed in June.
