THE STUDIO — Jimmy Fallon, host of the The Tonight Show, is known for his enthusiastic optimism.

And enthusiastic optimism is precisely what it takes to ask world-famous artists to perform one of their biggest hits using an array of imprecise “classroom instruments.” These include, but are not limited to, shakers shaped like fruit, plastic tambourines, kazoos, melodicas, wood blocks, triangles, and a mini Casio keyboard with a preprogrammed rhumba beat.

Fallon’s previous guests for this regular bit have included Metallica, Adele, and Ed Sheeran, but this time he invited the 90s heartthrob boy band, The Backstreet Boys, to play along.

That’s right, in this video you’ll see Nick, the short one, the tiny one, the bad boy, and the other one perform “I Want It That Way” with Fallon and The Roots.

(Please don't send me angry fan comments, I looked up the names of The Backstreet Boys and list them here for your pleasure: Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, AJ McClean, and Howie Dorough.)

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

In an homage to the original video, Fallon, the boys of the backstreet, and The Roots are wearing head-to-toe white. It's a special treat for diehard fans.

Whether you like the The Backstreet Boys or not, these classroom instrument videos are always full of joy. I had a good time watching this, and I have never cared less about this boy band. However, based on the audience screams every time everyone croons “I want it that way,” I'm guessing many if you will have a better than good time while watching.
