SALT LAKE CITY — We love a good sweet treat, but do you want to smell like one? If you walk down the fragrance aisle, your nose will notice that perfume is starting to smell a lot like dessert! Vanilla, caramel, marshmallow, even chocolate and cherry.

These sweet, edible-inspired scents are everywhere right now. They fall into a fragrance category called gourmand, a term that comes from the French word for foodie. Beauty expert Megan Moore said this trend fits right into our fall mood.

"It's perfect for fall because it does feel cozy. It's a little bit more grounded," she said.

She said you can even mix gourmand scents together to create your own unique fragrance.

"We can layer them the same way we layer our fall fashion," Megan explained. "Go get a banana one, get a vanilla one, layer them and see what happens and create your own scent by mixing more than one together."

These sweet fragrances might remind you of sugary body sprays we've mostly left in the past. Megan said today's versions are more sophisticated.

"It's actually grounded with a lot more mature scents," she explained. "You're getting your musks in there, you're getting your bergamot in there, so that grounds it and makes it feel more mature."

Megan said any age can go for this fragrance trend. It just depends on which one piques your interest.
