The 3 pieces you should be looking for at the thrift store and how to work them into your home

SALT LAKE CITY — One person's donation can become someone else's must-have find. Right now, thrifters are scooping up three specific items as soon they hit the shelves.

Laurel Harry shared how to make them work in our homes today.

Brass Candlesticks

Brass décor is showing up everywhere in interior design.

"I love brass," Harry said. "It warms up your space."

It's a great thrifting find because it's so versatile. It is easy to pair with both warm and cool color palettes,

"That metallic that catches the shine and just warms up a space," she said.

If you spot a brass candlestick or decorative brass piece, it may be worth putting it in your cart before someone else does.

Original Art

Harry's favorite thing to thrift is original art. The same mass produced prints end up in lots of homes, but thrifted artwork is truly unique.

"It's something that no one else will have," Harry explained.

Harry said she keeps the original frame, but sometimes makes small changes.

"Sometimes I redo the mattes on the frame, give it a little personality," she said.

Lamps

Lighting is another vintage piece everyone is snatching up right now.

"Everybody wants a kitchen lamp right now," Harry said. "Even sometimes a laundry room lamp is a thing."

Vintage lamps make a room feel curated instead of cookie-cutter. Harry said she doesn't just keep the lamp the way it is.

"I'll often redo the shades," she explained. "It makes it look like it's all fancy and pleated, but it's actually super easy, no sewing involved."
