President, CEO of Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation dies at 58

PARK CITY — The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation announced Saturday that longtime President and CEO Colin Hilton died on Friday. He was 58.

Hilton led the organization over the past two decades, according to the foundation's press release, and dedicated his life and career to ensuring the legacy of Utah's 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games survived and thrived.

Hilton worked closely with Utah 2034, the organization currently working to ensure that the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are successful, providing them with his experience as the state prepares for the future Games.

Brad Wilson, CEO of Utah 2034, said he was heartbroken at the news.

"Colin gave decades of his life to Utah's Olympic Movement and helped turn the legacy of the 2002 Games into something that continues to serve athletes and communities everyday." Wilson said.

The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation said his family had asked for space and privacy regarding the circumstances surrounding Hilton's death. No further details were released.

Calum Clark, the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation COO, was asked to become acting CEO and president by the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation Board.

"I'm struggling to find the right words for the loss of Colin," Clark said. "He was my colleague, my leader and most importantly, my friend. Colin was a long-time mentor before he became my boss. I learned an enormous amount from him, and I know I'm only one of many people whose lives and careers are better because Colin was part of them. Right now, my heart is with his family and with our UOLF team. We are going to miss him deeply."
