PARK CITY — Seems like nowadays there is a podcast about every single topic imaginable. And now, Park City officials are joining the podcast train.
Park City's communications team announced this week the release of a new podcast focused on informing citizens about city issues. "PCCast — Where Context Meets Community" aims to bring listeners in-depth stories and information on what the local government is doing, the city said in a statement.
The podcast "explores the people, policies and programs that shape everyday life in Park City" and will be hosted by local personality Claire Wiley.
"PCCast gives us another way to meet people where they are and share the stories behind some of the services, challenges and projects we deliver," said City Manager Matt Dias.
The first episode, released this week, dives into the budget with the city's budget director and goes over the City Council's priorities on services and infrastructure. Future episodes plan to focus on land use decisions, conservation easements, capital projects, bonds and ballot initiatives.
"There hasn't been a major initiative in Park City that didn't involve residents, stakeholders, elected officials and employees, working together to achieve an outcome, broker a compromise or make Park City better than it was yesterday," Dias said.
The podcast will help Park City connect with residents in a format that provides "greater depth and breadth" than typical communication methods, the city said. Episodes will be released monthly and citizens with topic ideas can email media@parkcity.org.
"Whether it's transportation solutions, the history behind an open space acquisition, or how our public safety teams manage our special events, this podcast brings listeners closer to the work — and the numerous people — working to make Park City a better place to live, work, and play," Dias said.
