Police identify man who died after losing control of motorcycle in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY — A 23-year-old man who died Monday after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a car on 4100 South has been identified as Jose Flores.

The crash happened about 3:15 p.m. when Flores, who was westbound on 4100 South, somehow clipped the back of a pickup truck after passing through the 3600 West intersection, West Valley Police Lt. Jason Vincent said. The man then lost control of his bike and hit a car.

Flores died at the scene, the lieutenant said.

Vincent said police found a helmet at the scene, but investigators were unsure whether Flores was wearing it at the time of the crash. He said investigators think speed may have been a factor in the crash, and they're looking to see if alcohol may have played a role.
