BRIAN HEAD — A 4-year-old child is recovering following a close call involving a near-drowning incident at a pool in Brian Head on Monday night, officials said.

The incident was reported at approximately 7 p.m. Monday at an indoor pool at a condominium complex just off state Route 143.

Brian Head Public Safety Director Dan Benson told Cedar City News that deputies and medical personnel were dispatched to the location on a report of a 4-year-old girl who was having a drowning emergency.

"The child was wearing a life jacket but got turned upside down," Benson said, adding, "The father was quick to notice a problem and pulled the child from the pool. He called 911 and started CPR."
