HURRICANE, Washington County — Progress is being made on Liberty Village, an immersive living history experience in Washington County that will bring colonial America to life, focusing on interactive educational programs centered around key U.S. historical documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Serving as a central hub for patriotic events and celebrations, the destination will emphasize values like freedom, family and faith.
The project is located on a 32-acre park east of Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane. The first phase of the village is set to open on Sept. 17 — Constitution Day.
According to the Liberty Village website, $22 million has been raised, and progress is being made toward completing the fundraising for this phase. The goal is to finish the second phase for the 250th anniversary of the United States on July 4.
