BLACKFOOT, Idaho — Idaho authorities say they are investigating a shooting along I-15 that left a 31-year-old Utah man dead.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, Idaho State Police troopers spotted a white 2008 Toyota Camry stopped on the outside shoulder of the freeway with its hazard lights about 5 miles north of the Bannock–Bingham county line. The troopers stopped to help the driver when they found that he was dead from a gunshot wound.
The Bingham County, Idaho, Coroner's Office determined that the man's death was a homicide, according to the Idaho State Police. The man's name was not immediately released.
Investigators did not say where the man was shot or if he had been shot once or multiple times. It wasn't immediately clear when the shooting took place or what led up to it.
Authorities are asking that anyone who drove past the Camry, anyone who may have seen another vehicle stopped next to it or any "suspicious activity" in the area to call the agency at 208-239-9850.
"If you have any information, no matter how small, we ask you to come forward and assist with the investigation," the agency wrote in a statement on Saturday.
