SALT LAKE CITY — Real Salt Lake has reportedly lost its star striker six weeks before its first match of 2025.
MLS insider Tom Bogert reported Friday the San Jose Earthquakes acquired 29-year-old Colombian forward Chicho Arango for $1.5 million in general allocation money and an international roster spot.
Arango led RSL with 17 goals and 12 assists last year, with his scoring total tying the franchise record for goals in a season set over a decade ago by Alvaro Saborio. He signed with RSL in 2023 for a club-record $6 million.
The 2025 preseason is set to begin on Monday with RSL's first match on Feb. 19 at Costa Rican club Herediano in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
