OGDEN — Ogden police have identified the 64-year-old man who was killed in an alleged hit-and-run on Friday as James W. Wood of Ogden.

About 5:30 p.m., Ogden police received multiple reports of a suspected impaired driver. Officers started searching the area and heard the report of a vehicle matching the suspected vehicle's description hitting a pedestrian at 20th Street and Harrison Boulevard, Ogden Police Lt. Shane Keys said.

The driver then fled in the vehicle and, a few minutes later, crashed into another vehicle at Canyons Road and Harrison Boulevard, Keys said. The occupants in the vehicle that was struck sustained serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police took the driver into custody at the scene of the crash at Canyons Road. The suspect was later identified as Tyson Bryce Treasure, 26, of Ogden. He is under investigation for DUI and automobile homicide.

Wood suffered critical injuries from the crash and was transported to the hospital. He died shortly after arriving.

Police believe Wood had been crossing at the intersection with the light when the suspect vehicle hit a different vehicle, pushing that vehicle into the man.

Wood's family created a GoFundMe* account to raise money to support his family, including his wife, who is disabled, according to the family. His brother, Jack Wood, said Wood was walking his dog when he was struck. The dog returned home safely.
