ST. GEORGE — The holiday season can hit hard for folks who might not have family and friends to share the Christmas spirit with, especially military veterans.
Judith Cooley and Nikki Watterson, two friends who are passionate about serving veterans and making veterans' issues known, met with St. George News on Thursday at Bundy's Brazilian Steakhouse to talk about their Christmas outreach to veterans.
"There's a lot of veterans that have nothing. They just get dropped off in a nursing home and their families desert them," Cooley said. "So we make sure that they get something. Always."
The duo is working hard this year to expand their Christmas tree for veterans program. Now in its sixth year, the program sets up Christmas trees at Bundy's and at Guru's Sports Bar and Grill, two restaurants on opposite ends of Bluff Avenue.
