Utah football schedules home-and-home series with UCLA for 2025, 2030

LAS VEGAS — Getting back in the Los Angeles market was a "priority" of Utah athletic director Mark Harlan.

"We have a lot of student-athletes that are from that area," Harlan said during Big 12 media days Tuesday. "I still think we're going to continue to have athletes in that area. I mean, it's just such an incredible place. I've been in conversations with colleagues there, ESPN Events. I just think it's important for us to, when we can, to play in California."

That emphasis to return to Los Angeles paid off as Utah scheduled a home-and-home series with the UCLA Bruins. ESPN reporter Pete Thamel was the first to report the news.

Utah will open up its 2025 season in Pasadena on Aug. 30, with the Bruins making a return trip to Salt Lake City on Sept. 7, 2030. The road trip to the Rose Bowl completes the 2025 nonconference schedule for the Utes, who will also play Cal Poly at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Sept. 6. and a road game at Wyoming on Sept. 13.

The news comes two days after Utah announced it would be playing Miami on Labor Day weekend in 2027 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as part of ESPN Events' Vegas Kickoff Classic.

With the latest scheduling additions, Utah will now play members of the ACC, Big Ten and SEC in the coming years. The Utes previously announced home-and home series with Arkansas (2026, 2029), Wisconsin (2028, 2033) and LSU (2031, 2032).
