PRICE — One person was hospitalized and multiple homes in Price are likely a total loss after fire spread through a residential neighborhood on Saturday. Fire investigators say an old, damaged grill is to blame.

The condition of the person who was hospitalized was unknown Saturday night, according to a post on the Price Police Department's Facebook page. Several homes "appear to be a total loss," the post says.

"We want to give our condolences to those who have lost lifetimes of memories and possessions," the police department said, "and we want to thank all the surrounding agencies who have assisted today."

In a statement released Sunday, the Price Fire Department said they received a report of the fire just after 4 p.m. on Saturday. By the time fire crews arrived, several other buildings had also caught fire.

Several fire agencies were called in to help put out the flames. A total of four structures were damaged and three families were displaced from their homes, the statement says; one vacant home had minor damage.

The Utah State Fire Marshall's Office was able to investigate the cause of the fire and concluded it was sparked by an older, damaged grill that wasn't able to contain embers.
