MONTREAL — The 2024 Real Salt Lake squad has matched the longest unbeaten run in a season by any group in franchise history with 14 consecutive MLS matches without a loss, dating back to March 23.

The 0-0 tie in Montreal on Saturday marked the sixth draw to go along with eight wins over the last 84 days of league play. The 2010 RSL team also went 14 games without a loss, totaling eight draws and six wins.

A win or draw on Wednesday in Kansas City would tie the second-longest unbeaten streak in MLS history.

The scoreboard didn't completely reflect the on-field matchup at Stade Saputo, with RSL dominating in possession and shots and owning a 7-0 lead in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Zac MacMath and a back line missing Justen Glad earned the team's first clean sheet since May 15. Kaysville native Bode Hidalgo continued his multi-positional development by filling in for Glad and playing 90 minutes at center-back after starting his career on the wing.

"That's what this group needs, especially when you can't find the back of the net," head coach Pablo Mastroeni said of the defense. "We got to make sure we keep zeros and I thought it was a really good collective defensive performance."

Chicho Arango will have to wait a bit longer to tie Alvaro Saborio's RSL single-season goal record of 17, but probably not too long, with two matches over the next seven days for the Claret and Cobalt.

The team has a quick turnaround with another road match in Kansas City on Wednesday, followed by a homecoming on Saturday, June 22 against the LA Galaxy.
