HERRIMAN — Brighton is used to losing to Park City in boys lacrosse.
The Miners have gotten the better of the Bengals each of the last three years in the playoffs and were the lone loss in an otherwise perfect season this year for Brighton.
But Friday at Zions Bank Stadium was different.
"We weren't scared," head coach Christopher O'Donnell said. "We came out, weren't scared and played the way we felt we could have the first time and put it together this time."
The Bengals never trailed in a game where they scored first and scored often. Park City tied the game briefly at 1-1 in the first quarter, but Brighton bagged three quick ones — including a first-quarter buzzer beater — to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.
Goalkeeper Mason Fray allowed just two more goals from the Miners for the rest of the game, and the offense did their part to finish with a dominant 10-3 result.
"I think most people know how it ended in the regular season, so we had an extra fire lit under us coming into the night and we just let that fuel us the entire game," Fray said. "We never took our foot off the gas pedal."
