SALT LAKE CITY — Isaac Wilson wanted to blaze his own trail.
The four-star quarterback who is going into his senior season at Corner Canyon High and is rated the No. 2 overall recruit in the state of Utah for the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, announced his commitment to play at the University of Utah on Wednesday night.
Surrounded by family and friends at his home in Draper, Wilson thanked all the schools that offered him before eventually announcing his decision to commit to Utah. He revealed his decision by pulling off his shorts that covered a swimsuit that had a University of Utah logo before he did a front flip into his pool.
Wilson held offers from 19 schools around the country, but took an official visit to Utah during the school's spring game in April. The university made a "tremendous impression" on Wilson during the visit, according to 247Sports' Blair Angulo.
The four-star quarterback told Angulo that he "loved meeting with all the coaches" and that the program was "the most put-together program I've ever seen."
Wilson narrowed down his decision to six schools in a tweet last week, which included Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Oklahoma State and UCLA, before he eventually made his decision official on Wednesday night.

The younger brother of Zach Wilson, who was the No. 2 overall pick to the New York Jets in 2021 and a former BYU quarterback, led Corner Canyon to a 6A state championship appearance last season, but the team lost a close battle to Skyridge 17-7. Wilson threw for 3,774 yards and 40 touchdown, and had a 61.8% completion percentage during his junior season.
Though his older brothers committed to BYU, Isaac becomes the first Wilson to commit to Utah since his father, Mike, played for the university from 1992-95 as a defensive tackle. The family has been longtime Utah fans but switched allegiances for a time when Zach Wilson enrolled.
Wilson told Angulo ahead of his announcement his decision and went into why he chose Utah.
"I've been a Utah fan since I could remember and then we made that flip with Zach, who did his thing," Wilson told 247Sports, "but now I'm excited to do my thing, go back to our roots and go back to where my dad played. I couldn't be more excited to be committed to Utah."
